Six months ago today we disconnected our cable, unplugged our TV, and put it in a closet. We have been TV-less for 6 months! I must say, overall, it has been a very positive thing for our family! My house has probably suffered the most...I must have used the TV as a baby-sitter while cleaning my house! I can't believe it has been that long. I think everyone should try it for a week or maybe a day :) Now, for some TV humor...it probably holds some truth for many people, actually!
By the way, I have had SO many people tell me they could never go TV-less in Oklahoma because of all the bad weather. Well, guess what, you can watch the weather LIVE from channel 8 online if there is severe weather! Oh, and we do still watch movies occasionally on our computer...family movie nights!

Ya it's the weather, that's why we have cable & DVR??!! We also have a weather radio ; )
You are an inspiration!
Keep glowing : )
Love you!
I never thought we would even consider it, but Mike's mentioned it more than once the past few months. Nice to know we'd "survive"-ha!

When syd is over there she says she doesnt really miss it at all!! Your such a wonderful mommy and the sacrifices you make will make a difference! Hugs L A
Margo -
DH and I have done this too. Actually, he went through all of grad school (7 years!) with no TV, and now we're adding to that as newlyweds. We still rent movies and watch them on a computer, and there's a few TV shows I catch online while multitasking, but overall, I love that our evenings aren't crowded out by a TV. We listen to the radio, read books, get crafty, go outside. It's wonderful! Now, if only we could *really* survive without internet, that would be WONDERFUL!
Matt and I have talked about it. I don't know if we could get rid of the TV itself - maybe just cable. We only watch discovery channel and football. The rest of the time it's background noise. YUCK!
Margo I love your sign with no TV...read a book! Something crazy has happened, which spurred the home schooling, and I can't put down books! I just checked out the book, Honey for a Child's Heart. Where have I been? Why hasn't someone told me about it before? A great book at the library I would love to share is called Scarecrow Pete. Hope you can check it out.
