I must confess that lately I have had some tough "mommy days". Things just haven't been real fun. I realized tonight that when I have actively looked for cute "blog-worthy" things that my kids do or say, that I actually enjoy my kids more...hence, the title "joys of blogging." So, I am consciously choosing to look for cuteness in my sons! Here goes...from today...
Nate has a new girlfriend. He doesn't know her name, but he can tell me all about her. A new friend of mine (Gayla, president of local Mom's Club) took Nathanael to the park and Tulsa Zoo yesterday with some other moms and their kids. He had a great time! He told me today that at the park his girlfriend came down the slide and then gave him a big hug. Trying to find out more about this little girl who is making such bold advances with my 5-year-old :) , I said, "What color is her hair?" He says, "like yours." So, Nathanael has a new girlfriend with blonde hair who I haven't met yet ...too cute! He also said to me as we were driving by the exit to the zoo, "That's the way to the zoo. I know ALL about the zoo. I've been there." (We are probably going to get a family membership to the zoo; a year pass is on sale for $49...that's really cheap and it's only about 15 minutes from our house!)
Kyle says to me "Mom, you need to be frustrated with Ian; he messed up my computer." (it made me laugh)
Today Ian said "mema" for the first time! (Mema is my mom; she is here this week helping me...I am so glad that she is here! Mike is working insane hours and it is really nice to have some extra help with the boys/house.) Also, Ian helped me find out today that "Corelle", you know those inexpensive "unbreakable" dishes, does break when dropped on a ceramic tile floor. He dropped a bowl full of yogurt on the floor and it seriously was the loudest shattering sound I have ever heard. I have had these "unbreakable" Corelle dishes since my first apartment at OSU. They have lived in approximately 15 different apartments/houses and in 3 different states without any damage, but my 2-year-old finds a way to break them!
Caden doesn't do much to upset me. I really praise Jesus that we were blessed with Caden. He truly brings so much joy into my life! He has made me a better mom. His little smile lights up my life...I know that sounds so corny, but these days, it's the truth! His little smile spurs me on during these crazy days. He sure loves his mommy! Everytime he see me, he gives me the biggest smile. I took him to the doctor today because he has been running a low grade fever for several days. He is really congested and even though I know he isn't feeling very well, when the doctor (new doctor...liked him a lot, loved the staff, VERY clean office, lots of toys and books, new practice that just opened in September...Praise Jesus) came into the room, Caden greeted him with a smile! Seriously, he is such a sweetie!! On Sunday he had his very first food besides cereal...he LOVES sweet potatoes! (I have pictures but I don't know where my printer dock is to download pictures off the camera onto the computer...it's probably still in one of 50 or so boxes in the garage...oh the joys of moving.)
So, that is the "blog-worthy" moments from today with Nate, Kyle, Ian, and Caden. Because I am actively looking for positive attributes of my children, I will not be writing about my horrible experience today with my children at the YMCA Child Watch program...let's just say, I didn't get to work out, something that I have been greatly looking forward to doing...I love my kids. *sigh*
