We had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day. I really tried to emphasize God's love with the boys. Because of my friend's Starr's blog post, I requested the book Sidney and Norman from the library a couple of months ago, not knowing what it was about but knowing it would be good! The book had a whole bunch of holds, so we were in line to get the book. It came in yesterday and so we read it last night for the first time. It is about God's love! What wonderful timing!! We read it two more times today, the second time after our family Valentine party (which was kind of late because of two different basketball practices!) Our party was fun...we ate dinner by candlelight and then went around and took turns telling each other what we love about each other. Then, I asked the boys what they love about God and Kyle said, "I love that He will take me to heaven one day." Then, we gave the boys their gifts (little boxes of chocolates that were very cheap, but definitely fulfilled the purpose). The party ended with eating pink-frosted cake that Nate helped me make today (he successfully cracked two eggs!) and reading that book. When I was tucking the boys in tonight, I said, "I just love you guys so much!" to which Kyle replies, "We know mom, you tell us EVERY DAY!" I want to lavish them with love. I pray that the love that God lavishes on me so graciously will overflow onto my kids. I LOVE my kids (and my husband!)
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1

loved this!! How awesome to have a family Valentine's party! I also love this verse because I know God lavishes His love on me!!!!!!! I have to write a devotional for our stewardship campaign book....wish I had read your blog first, i would have stolen it. :-) Love you for who you are and WHOSE you are! You and your guys are so precious! oh...and i love the Hair..not as shocking as I imagined.
Did you love the book? I just had tears streaming down my face as I read it. It really ministered to me. At the time I first read it I think God needed to gently remind me to love people instead of judge them.
Oh to go to Jesus like a child! :) Sweet sweet boys!! :)
